Gas analyzers with FID (flame ionisation detector) are well suited for continuous measurements of total hydrocarbons. In the first instance, the measurement results are proportional to the number of C atoms in the relevant molecule.

The FIDAMAT versions cover a wide range of applications: From trace measurement of hydrocarbons in pure gases to total content measurement for hydrocarbons in the presence of corrosive gases. Almost all applications can be run. A prerequisite for this application is the use of a filter that is wear-free and resistant to corrosion.

The high adjustable temperature of the detector and the internal gas also allows the measurement of mixtures at high temperatures. The measurement of oil in vapor concentrations up to 100% is also possible.

After an automatic start, after which the warm-up phase begins with automatic measurements and self-diagnosis. When the detector flame goes out, it will automatically re-ignite. If it no longer turns on, a warning message is generated and the gas supply is automatically turned off using a solenoid valve. A purge function for when the device is not working prevents the build-up of toxic, corrosive and explosive substances in the device. The error message can be read on the display.
